Dr. Denise Crute, M.D., FACS is a female neurosurgeon who is widely respected for her knowledge and talents. She currently works at the Illinois Neurological Institute. She also teaches at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford, Illinois, where she is employed as an Assistant Professor. Crute is a specialist in the fields of minimally invasive neurosurgery, neurotrauma, and preventative medicine.

Denise Crute graduated from Duke University, cum laude, in 1983 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Zoology. Crute also made the Dean’s list and received class honors in the years 1981-1983. Denise Crute later attended one of the most prestigious medical schools in the country, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. Dr. Crute graduated from that institution in 1988 and did her neurosurgical training at Northwestern University Hospitals later on.

Dr. Denise Crute is not only a medical doctor, surgeon, and academic, she is also a philanthropist and artist. Dr. Crute has visited Central America frequently and even helped to establish western Honduras’ first neurosurgical program. This was accomplished through a group called Central American Medical Outreach. Denise Crute is an artist and medical illustrator whose works were published most recently in 2009, in a book called Heart of a Lion, Hands of a Woman, What Women Neurosurgeons Do.
